English version
I don’t know how I do it but even when I’m not reading my books I run across nice topics involving writers, poets, musicians. That’s what happened with Bright Star.
In London of 1818, between John Keats, known and loved poet of the romantic period, and Fanny Brawn, a simple girl, interested in fashion art, begins a beautiful love story that will be cut short by Keats’s premature death.
The film is impressive, touching and full of tenderness. I liked it very much for the simple fact that it catches at a high emotional level a delicate love, intimacy and tenderness, without physical connections involved, so rare in cinema today.
In a society where a young courtship was strictly controlled and had to follow certain rules, the letters, the poems and the talks that the two of them share are revealing their true feelings and emotions that might otherwise be concealed from the eyes of others.
Knowing you can learn poetry or that you can be, without knowing, the inspiration, the muse of a poet seems wonderful to me.
It’s a really sensual film, yearning, kind, joyful, human in all aspects.
Bright star is also the name of one of Keats poems dedicated to miss Brawne.
